Nadine Schmidt Rojas is the Community Manager at the Tourism CoLab and a passionate advocate for fostering a mindset shift towards regeneration in tourism. She holds a Master’s Degree in Tourism and Destination Development and serves as a lecturer, tutor, and online facilitator in higher education in Australia and Europe, specialising in regenerative development in tourism. Nadine is also a Regenerative Tourism Specialist for Untamed Escapes. In this South Australian tour operator, she developed a detailed Roadmap Towards Regeneration for the business, the first Roadmap in Australia for regenerative development for a tour operator. She also assists Melbourne Regenerative River experience operator Up The Creek in the further implementation of their Roadmap, after they completed the Regenerative Business Development Journey here at The Tourism CoLab. Her extensive industry experience spans Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and Event Management for both Inbound and Outbound Tour Operators.
Nadine brings additional expertise in designing and delivering learning journeys in Australia and Germany, community development and management, research and analysis, and roles in destination management organisations (DMOs). She was Co-Leader of the Impact Travel Alliance, Melbourne Chapter. She served as Business Development Manager for The RegenLab For Travel, demonstrating her commitment to advancing impactful tourism initiatives on a global scale.
As a sought-after speaker, Nadine has contributed to industry events worldwide. Notable appearances include presenting on sustainable tourism at the Travel and Tourism Research Association's Annual Conference in Melbourne (2018), delivering a keynote at the "Tourism For Good" conference in South Australia to over 350 delegates (2023), and sharing insights on citizen science and activating visitors for good at the Local2030 Islands Conference in Hawai'i (2024). Additionally, she was an invited speaker at the Regenerative Tourism by Design Summit hosted by The Tourism CoLab (February 2024) and the Social Justice Conference Newkind in Victoria (November 2024), presenting about Arts, Food and Tourism for Community Regeneration. Nadine's multifaceted career exemplifies her dedication to driving meaningful change in the tourism sector.
