Course Description

A 5 week online course that introduces community conversation and engagement skills for tourism professionals, destination managers, researchers, students, tourism business and industry stakeholders.

Objectives

  • Learn how to design and facilitate conversations that empower co-learning, empathy and future thinking.

  • Learn how to design and create community engagement processes.

  • Develop the practical skills to design and implement effective conversations in tourism.

Course Delivery

A 5-week introductory course that combines community engagement and conversational design. The course includes:

  • 5 x Learning circles (Live 1.5 hr zoom sessions)

  • Access to the Tourism CoLab's online learning platform

  • Access to The Tourism CoLab’s membership community (one year)

Add-on virtual whiteboard training available

The five-week Hosting Community Conversations course is complemented by a hands-on training package currently under development where you can learn how to use a virtual whiteboard to host, engage and support your community conversations. More information when enrolments open.

FAQs

Q. When does the course start and finish?

 

The course website will open one week prior to the start date. The content for the Introduction and Module 1 will be available at this time. Thereafter, the relevant materials for the next module will be released one week ahead of time.

 

Q. How is the course run?

 

The course will be run using Zoom and Teachable (learning resources and worksheets).

 

On the Learning weeks, webinars will be recorded and made available for viewing. On the CoLab weeks, group work and coaching and will not be recorded.

 

Q. What happens if I can't attend the live webinars?

 

The course may be completed asynchronously. That is, you can view the learning materials and the webinar recordings in your own time, and go through the CoLab worksheets and exercises on your own. Talk to us about how we might accommodate your needs.

 

Q. How long do I have access to the course?

 

After enrolling, you have access to this course for one year, across any and all devices or until further notice.

 

Q. What if I am unhappy with the course?

 

We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.

 

Q. Will the course be offered at a later date?

 

Yes. The course will be offered again (dates to be confirmed) but we can't guarantee the same pricing. If you would like to take the course now, all the materials including the webinars will be available for download to view at a later date, and you can email the instructor anytime.
