About the course
How to use design thinking to facilitate regenerative, inclusive and transformational change in tourism.
Regenerative tourism aims to restore the balance between nature and humanity by connecting us more deeply to the sources of our own well-being, creativity and flourishing.
It signals an approach grounded in human and planetary values (It's holistic and values-based).
It gives back more than it takes (It is restorative and regenerative).
It gives nature and communities equal voice ‘at the table’ (It acknowledges the right to be heard.)
It restores people, places, and planet. (It expands who and what should benefit from tourism; it's redistributive.)
It expresses an aspiration that combines the need to reconnect, restore and rebalance what we perceive as broken with a deep belief in the transformative power of travel to deliver good (It signals a much-needed reset or correction).
It seeks to do no harm. (It acknowledges human and planetary responsibilities.)
In this course, we explore regenerative tourism and why it is important to place communities and nature alongside the economy in decision-making. It integrates perspectives beyond tourism, and it requires that we listen deeply and lean in to an emerging, shared future.
This course is an introduction to the journey ahead, the courage needed, and the skills you will need.
Explore regenerative tourism, the theory, the mindset and its application.
Develop an appreciation for design thinking and intentional integrated design for tourism.
Develop an understanding of your blinkers, blind spots and how to break free.
Develop practical understandings of design thinking tools and methods.
The course runs over 10 weeks, requires approximately 20 hours of your time and includes:
5 x online learning modules
5 x 2hr learning circles (zoom webinars, videos, course notes).
5 x 1.5hr Colab thinking, sharing and reflection sessions.

What our past students have said...
What a wonderful group of people in this morning's session.. I feel so very inspired by hearing what everyone else is doing. It's a really wonderful part of this course to meet other people with the same challenges, Thank you.
This is really powerful stuff. My colleagues love it. I can see they are inspired by design thinking. Thank you for making this a great learning experience.
I've been really enjoying the deep thinking triggered by the first couple of weeks of this course. I am going to use the forum to extend some of that thinking because I find it really helps to share and reflect with others.
